Wedding Cake Wonders

Here are a few great examples from the web for you to consider when deciding on a wedding cake. Why settle for an ordinary cake, when with a little creativity your wedding cake could be extraordinary and wow your guests!

Annemieke & Doudou - Holy Trinity Church

When I met with Annemieke & Doudou they told me they wanted classical styled photos on their wedding day and I believe I achieved that for them! They got married at The Holy Trinity Church in Gardens, which had rows and rows of beautiful steps leading to the front of the church where the family photos were taken. They had lots of hearts as decor hanging from the trees that looked great when there was a breeze.

From the church we then went to The Company Gardens in Cape Town to take the couple shots which was so fun! I enjoyed using the statues and monuments in the gardens as backdrops. Luckily I remembered to pack in some bread and let Annemieke and Doudou use it to feed the pigeons. They are such a happy and loving couple and you can see it come through in their photos!

Hannah & Serge - Muizenberg

I met Hannah and Serge about a month before their wedding - she is such a bubbly girl and had lots of ideas of what they wanted for their 250 strong wedding! She is Dutch and Serge is Congolese, which made it a bit tricky to get the right exposures throughout the day. The ceremony held at George Whitefield College in Muizenberg was quite different because the minister read everything in English while an interpreter translated it all into French, which as you can imagine made the ceremony quite lengthy! Thereafter we headed to the beach for some fun couple shots. Thanks guys it was good fun!

Wedding stationery I love!

I found these little gems on the web and I just had to share them with you - I hope you find them as inspiring as I have! The stationery you see here is not that difficult to make, all you need is the help of a designer (give me a call - I'm a qualified graphic designer!) and then pop the design over to the printers and bam , you have awesome customised stationery. DIY: What to do with left over lace and ribbon

Here are some great ideas on what to do with your off cuts and left over shards of lace and ribbon! Firstly use some colour-coded ribbon (to your wedding theme of course!) and glue along the edges of your cake stand or attach it with a pin if its a hired stand. Use either your ribbon or lace or BOTH along the base of your candle holders, this will add a personal touch to your table settings and look great! Why not tie your rings together with lace - this is also a great way of NOT losing your rings (NB best man!!) Lastly use your bits and pieces and customize your garter - if you become to precious over it then just use a second one to throw for all the single men.

Janine & Nic - Newlands

This was a lovely wedding held at the bowling club in Newlands. Unlike traditional white wedding dresses, Janine opted for a wine red gown and white hooded coat that best suited her personality! I helped assist this wedding for my friend Jeune Drinkrow. I was worried all day that it was going to rain, because of the clouds covering Table Mountain and especially as it was at the end of July and in the middle of Winter. Luckily it turned out to be fine and we managed to take the couples photos in a nearby outdoor garden/flower shop. I love the vintage look of this photo!

Autumn wedding inspiration

Here are some lovely inspirational colour boards from www.snippetandink.blogspot.com that are appropriate for the Autumn Season approaching. The colours are warm, such as creams, beiges, browns and whites that look great and complement the reds and oranges of the Autumn leaves. Autumn is a beautiful season in the Cape with all the leaves changing colour and slowly falling to the ground. If you're thinking of getting married in Autumn consider venues for a natural look with vintage architecture, maybe a farm with spacious fields, a garden or a venue with oak trees as they will be looking beautiful this time of year. Fashion shoot: Sempre Boutique - Stellenbosch

I took these photos for a quaint little bridal boutique in Stellenbosch, called Sempre Designs. It was quite fun to use the props in the boutique, such as the ornate sofa's and vintage telephone and huge mirrors. The models are two girls working from a nearby store :)
